Enjoy the Doughnuts

Every year we welcome two work experience placements in the Fever studio, as I strongly believe in helping the next generation of talented individuals. It’s great to provide them with real-world experience of the industry, and for them to understand what it is like to work in a creative environment. This month we had the pleasure of supporting Oliver, who absolutely smashed it. He was hardworking and threw himself into everything we tasked him with. I asked Oliver how he felt about his week;

Heading into my work experience with This is Fever, I had no idea what to expect. I was unsure as to whether I was going to enjoy myself or not and if I’d have the chance to do something interesting. In the end, I was pleasantly surprised.

Throughout the week I was set a series of tasks by the team to create a brand. This involved researching a market, then creating a flyer and website.

These tasks kept me more than occupied, to say the least. They also helped me get an insight into how precise the team at Fever are when it comes to all corners of their work, allowing me to see their passion first-hand.

The task that required the most attention and focus was designing the logo using Adobe Illustrator. To undertake the task I had to first watch many tutorials. These were fun and helped a lot. Plus they gave me the ability to be able to use the program independently and create a range of designs for my logo before choosing the final one.

When it came to designing the website, I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do with it and fortunately for me, Fever supplied a pre-built template to work from.

This did still require adding pages though, plus inserting multiple images and my logo into WordPress. This was also quite time-consuming after some difficulties surrounding the images, although once it was finished, I felt a great deal of satisfaction with what I had achieved and how I tackled the challenges faced.

I would like to thank the team for taking me in for the week and making me feel completely welcome. The insight they gave into what they do was very intriguing, and I would like to further thank them for expanding my knowledge of graphic design and, overall, making the experience a great one! Enjoy the doughnuts 🙂
