Balanced Baby

Website Redesign

Nourishment for the Bump and Beyond

Through her nourishing website "Balanced Baby", Laura Bond shares recipes, videos, blogs and coaching to help your family's health remain balanced.

We met Laura Bond through our partnership with Aphra. They worked on her marketing and recommended she redevelop her website. This would give her more options for reaching her audience through SEO optimisation and increasing her overall ‘real estate’.

Redesigning a website and refreshing existing brands can be difficult to fit into an active schedule, and Laura Bond is busy! She’s a featured author and journalist – you can find her work in Psychologies, The Sunday Times, Stylist, Tatler, and Cosmopolitan. She’s a health coach for individuals and works with companies to provide nutritional and wellbeing support for employees. On top of all this, she’s a new mom.

We’re glad we could take a few things off her plate – helping her and her readers stay balanced, baby!

The former logo for Balanced Baby was an actual watercolour image. We turned it into a vector image to retain its opacity and scalability. We also created a logo for her direct brand, which will be rolled out soon. The challenge was to create two harmonious logos that would side with each other while remaining distinctive, in case they appeared together in print.

Using ‘superfoods’ as a base for flexible branding really complemented her holistic approach to health. A brush script was chosen for Balanced Baby to add accessibility and personality to the nutritional aspects of her site.

The branding for Balanced Baby and her parent website (pun intended),, needed to be refreshed. The soft watercolour style that suited her approach to nutrition from the bump and beyond was the starting point from which we refined her style.

Because she knows that life can be hectic, it was important that her sites were easy to use. Mobile traffic was impressively high, so we simplified the navigation and kept the design clean and optimised for moms on the go.

Her website is all about sharing – it has videos, recipes, articles and links to all her services. An important component of the layout for Balanced Baby was fostering this sharing mentality. Integrating her Instagram feed with the bottom of each page and making it easy to follow her on several platforms increased the connection and familiarity for her readers.

With accessibility in mind, Joe, one of our developers, went above and beyond to ensure that the site’s functionality truly complimented its design. From designing the newsletter’s email templates to incorporating a book download function and linking Laura’s social media accounts, Joe matched the technical innovations of the site with its creative input.

The rustic borders found on the site fit with the newly refreshed brand style and added a personal touch throughout.  However, they were wreaking havoc with the aspect ratio of the site’s videos! After some trial and error, the solution was positioning the borders with the background instead of being brought in line with the videos themselves.

Balance is what Laura Bond is all about, and we’re glad to have helped her website find some!
